County Demands Family Destroy House
Did you know that Kitsap County’s Dept. of Development (DCD) can demand that citizens destroy perfectly good houses?
Central Valley residents, Raymond and Valerie Grahn, found themselves in this very situation. On September 18, 2006, the Grahns received a letter from the County demanding them to destroy their house within the next 15 days, or receive a fine of $513 a day for noncompliance.
The Grahns purchased the house from the previous owners almost seven years ago. They have been paying taxes to the County all of this time and now the County wants them to destroy a perfectly good house.
Could this Happen to You?
Yes.
We have tried to get the County to answer some questions but they have been unresponsive.
